Learners must be employed in the sector and have worked for at least 1 year full time on a farm.

Summary
This apprenticeship is ideal for Farm Assistants wanting to upskill and take on more responsibility on the farm.
As an apprentice, learners will get mentoring and extra support from their Primary ITO Training Adviser and will meet with them and their employer regularly throughout the year to help set goals and review progress.
This programme takes 40 months to complete.
Learning outcomes
Level 3 topics include:
- assist with operating dairy effluent management systems
- assist with mating, calving and neonatal care
- health, wellbeing and biosecurity
- livestock feed supply and demand
- assist with milk harvesting and optimising milk quality.
Level 4 topics include:
- farm environment planning
- feeding, pastoral production systems and benchmarking
- milk harvesting management
- health, mating and parturition management
- maintenance and agribusiness activities.
The first topic will depend on the season, and once the programme is finished, learners will be able to take responsibility for their duties and work outcomes.
