Summary

Ideally following the completion of Dairy Processing Level 3, your people may progress to Dairy Processing Level 4. This programme arms your employees with specific skills and knowledge aligned to a specific product/process. The programme also equips trainees with a variety of broader skills relevant across the industry including being able to plan and manage work priorities, analyse and convey workplace information, monitor the implementation of health and safety, quality and environmental practices and implement food safety requirements.

Learners are also able to complete some additional unit standards in Automated Cleaning and Heat Treatment if they are applicable to the plant or process they work in.

This programme takes 15-18 months to complete and employees can start anytime.

Learning outcomes


Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

  • Analyse and convey workplace information in a dairy processing operation.
  • Monitor the implementation of health and safety, quality and environmental practices in a dairy processing operation.
  • Implement food safety requirements in a dairy processing operation.


Graduates of the Cheese Making strand will also be able to:

  • Carry out cheese making processes.


Graduates of the Cream Products strand will also be able to:

  • Carry out cream products processing operations.


Graduates of the Milk Powder strand will also be able to:

  • Carry out milk powder processing operations.


Graduates of the Milk Protein strand will also be able to:

  • Carry out milk protein processing operations.


Graduates of the Milk Treatment strand will also be able to:

  • Carry out milk treatment processing operations.


Graduates of the Milk Collection strand will also be able to:

  • Collect and deliver milk, applying hygiene requirements.
